NEW BANYAN DEVELOPER PRODUCTS GROUP
FOCUSES ON DISTRIBUTED APPLICATIONS
WESTBORO, Mass., March 26, 1991 -- Banyan Systems today announced
increased support for corporate developers and independent software
vendors (ISVs) with the formation of the Developer Products Group, and the
appointment of Bob Nuber as Director, Developer Products.
Under Nuber's guidance, the Group is chartered to provide ISVs with the
application development tools, product support and technical information
required to deploy enterprise-wide commercial applications on the BanyanR
VINESR Network Operating System. In particular, the Group brings together
the various teams that develop, market, and support the Banyan VINES
Applications Toolkit, thus creating a one-stop resource for applications
developers.
The Developer Products Group will work in coordination with Banyan's Third
Party Marketing Group to support ISVs. Third Party Marketing at Banyan is
responsible for establishing and maintaining business relationships with
independent software developers.

"Banyan is committed to delivering the best enterprise-wide computing
solutions available for the growing number of large, geographically
dispersed networks of personal computers in corporate and government
environments," said James D'Arezzo, Banyan Vice President, Marketing. "By
providing software developers with the tools they need to successfully
deploy the next generation of distributed client server applications on a
VINES network, Banyan increases the value of the customer's corporate
computing resource."
Nuber said, "The Developer Products Group will ensure that base-product
toolkit components, such as Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for
electronic mail and for directory systems, comply with developer
requirements. The Group will also determine what specialized tools are
required by the VINES developer community and will work aggressively to
make them available, whether designed by Banyan or selected from an
outside vendor."
A prominent architect and software development leader for VINES during
his eight years with Banyan, Nuber has worked closely with Banyan
customers and developers during his last fourteen months as Marketing
Technical Director and has gained an intimate understanding of their
development requirements.
